Gill Thompson exhibition

By John MacLean, 03/08/2020

Running from 1st to 31st August 2020, Gill Thompson‘s exhibition at Talla na Mara, Pairc Niseaboist, Harris, is well worth a visit. Gill’s art is inspired by the skies and coastal and moorland landscapes of the islands. All the framed work is for sale and there are also mounted prints available.

Framing of lino prints

Abare wood framing of a set of four limited edition lino prints by artist Catriona Black, illustrating almost lost, or just excellent, Gaelic words collected by 19th-Century priest, poet and folklorist Fr. Allan in South Uist & Eriskay.

Catriona featured 42 such illuminated words in her book Sly Cooking, published by Acair in 2017.

Hulabhaig group exhibition, Uig.

Two Geoff Stear paintings I framed for a group exhibition curated by Hulabhaig are shown below.

The show, ‘A Work In Progress’ comprising work by four artists – Andrea Ingram, Geoff Stear, Stephan-Maria Aust and Andy Laffan – was exhibited in December 2019 in Timsgarry, Uig, Isle of Lewis and included painting, photography and sculpture.

Artwork copying

By John MacLean, 18/09/11:

Copying artwork for use in publications or to create files for printing high quality posters, postcards, etc. is a technically difficult task which needs great care to obtain the best results. John MacLean Photography offers a high quality digital copying service, creating print-ready files quickly to your specifications. This service is ideal for archiving your art work or for creating portfolio material.

JMP can photograph all kinds of artwork of any size: paintings, drawings, collages, carvings, sculpture, etc., either onsite or (preferably) in my own studio. Daylight-balanced professional studio lighting ensures consistently accurate, evenly lit copies of work. Works behind glass, e.g. framed paintings, can be photographed totally free of reflections, without having to unframe the work.
